Each year Irvine Camera Club go on a summer trip to destination further afield than we usually venture.  This year we hired a 15 seater mini-bus and headed to the iconic Lancashire seaside resort town of Blackpool.  An early morning departure from Irvine saw us arriving in Blackpool well before midday and we immediately headed into town to start lapping up the atmosphere.   It is fair to say the town has seen better days and there are large pockets of deprivation, however it is also a mecca for those seeking the traditional British seaside resort experience.  With its piers, trams, the tower and the pleasure beach there is so much to see and photograph.  Amusement arcades, fast food and Blackpool rock are everywhere.  Characters of all descriptions walk confidently down the strip, all mostly happy to stop, chat and have their photo taken.  As the day wore on the hen and stag parties also began to appear – both rich pickings for those of us keen on street documentary photography.  After some suitable refreshment and the evening drawing in, we headed back to the mini bus (still making photos as we went!) for the long drive back home.

If you would like to come along, learn about your camera, make some new friends, explore stunning landscapes, visit exhibitions and places of interest and see what we are up to, then please take a look at our website and get in touch.  Every week we are somewhere different over the summer months: https://irvinecc.co.uk/programme
