Some will argue that ‘Black and White’ photography is the purest form of image making, it was of course how it all started out and that colour potentially and arguable ruined all of that.  However, I like to take the view that there is a place for everything in the creative world we live in.

Saying that though, some images do look so much better in black and white, devoid of the colour distraction, the image relies on contrast and shape to create interest.

At Irvine Camera Club we run a weekly challenge competition throughout the year on Facebook for members to encourage them to continue shooting all year round, stretch their creativity and to have somewhere a little more relaxed to post images.  Every week at our meeting a winning image is announced, and a top prize is given out.  This week the theme is ‘Black and White’ and the images being presented are a selection of those up for a prize this week.

Irvine Camera Club is a community based photographic club.  There is something for everyone, so if you are interested in photography and would like to come along, you would be made to feel very welcome.

We meet on Tuesdays starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
