One of the amazing things we get to do as a camera club is to get involved with the local community. Recently this had led to some incredible partnerships with local organisations and communities. Recently, we were really proud to have been asked to supply photographs for Anam Cara, a specialist dementia respite centre in Kilbirnie which has just re-opened to guests.
The photographs have made the finishing touch to the recently upgraded facility and will make a real difference to the visitors with dementia. It is hoped that it will help them to recall happy memories of familiar places and create talking points for staff and guests alike. We were thrilled to hear that the images are receiving positive comments and are making a difference. It is proof that photography can be a powerful medium when used in the right way and reminds us that it is not just about taking nice images, sometimes they can change or enhance the lives of those who get to see them.
Many camera clubs finish their programme of talks and events around this time and have a break for the summer but at Irvine Camera Club we are just getting started. We have just started our Summer season of weekly photo walks where you can come along and learn about your camera whilst visiting some of our stunning landscapes and places of interest along with making new friends.
If you would like to come along and see what we are up to then please take a look at our website and get in touch as every week we are somewhere different over the summer months: https://irvinecc.co.uk/programme
